SHAN STATE- It has been reported in media that money was charged to retrieve body from Sao San Htun Hospital mortuary. As the case was brought to Health Department of Nay Pyi Taw, the head of hospital and forensic pathologist who were main culprit behind the case forced the mortuary staff to confess to junta council if they come and check.
A close person of that mortuary staff’s family said, “The head of hospital forced him to confess that he is the one collecting money and none of the doctor are related to the case. As the staff followed and agreed with it, his family members are worried. If they (Health department of Nay Pyi Taw) come and check, he will be fired or arrested.”
On May 23, 725,000 MMKs document fees were charged when the dead bodies of people who died on ammo explosion in Aung Pan Township and Kalaw Township were retrieved from mortuary of Sao San Htun hospital.
That news was brought to Health department in Nay Pyi Taw by a charity group. It is reported that Health department of Nay Pyi Taw had ordered the hospital to form a panel to inspect the case instead of checking by themselves on May 27.
It was known that the head of hospital and the forensic doctor were the ones who asked to collect hundreds of thousands for the fees, but it was still investigating.
It has been known from locals of Taunggyi Township that there was collecting of money for retrieving the body before but it was only a few thousand kyat and now the price was getting higher after military coup.
