SHAN STATE – TNLA (Ta’ang National Liberation Army) released a report on August 12 evening that the fighting between TNLA and the junta council army continued in Lashio Township, Northern Shan State.
After clashes occurred between the two sides near Nam Long Village in Lashio Township on August 9 and 10, another battle broke out near Holauk Village on August 11.
Starting from the evening of August 11, TNLA launched an offensive on the junta council camp, resulting in a fierce battle against about 60 collective forces from the junta council’s Military Operations Command no. 16’s infantry battalion (IB) 68 and North East Military Command’s IB 17.
The August 12 press release stated that the junta council is sending a large number of reinforcements to the battle near Holauk Village in the TNLA Brigade 6 military area.
Some officials of the TNLA Information Department were contacted regarding the current military situation but there has been no reply yet.
It was stated in the previous TNLA press release that the junta council army suffered casualties during the battle in Lashio Township, but the number is unknown. However, it was not revealed whether or not there were casualties in the August 12 battle.
TNLA and the junta council forces clashed at least 12 times in July and August. There were battles in Lashio, Muse, Kutkai and Kyaukmei Townships, some of which were initiated by the junta council, and some by TNLA.
