CHIN STATE – Among the prisoners who were rescued by the joint forces of the Chin State Council on July 20 in the attack on Hakha Police Station in Chin State were 49 political prisoners including 7 with life sentence, reported by Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO).
Among the prisoners released following the attack on the police station, there are 49 political prisoners who were sentenced from 3 to 14 years and 7 with life sentence under the Anti-Terrorism Act by the junta council, reported CHRO.
There have been reports of prisoners detained in police stations and prisons being rescued in some townships where the revolution forces are fighting to capture the territory.
While Chin defense comrades were fighting to capture Matupi in June, they managed to rescue 13 political prisoners detained by the junta forces who abandoned the camp and ran away. Moreover, during city capture battles in Mogok and Singu, prisoners including political prisoners who were wrongfully detained by the junta council were freed.
Furthermore, during the city capture battle by MNDAA and the alliance force in Lashio, more than 200 political prisoners from Lashio Prison were set free.
