Guadeloupe dominated their match against Cuba, emerging with an impressive 4-1 triumph in the Concacaf Gold Cup Group D clash held at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.
With four points from two games, Guadeloupe has their sights set on reaching the Gold Cup quarterfinals for the first time since 2009, while Cuba remains at the bottom of the group without any points.
Matthias Phaeton opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by Ange Plumain extending the lead in the 41st minute. Phaeton netted his second goal in the 43rd minute, and Anthony Baron sealed the victory with a goal in the 51st minute.
Cuba managed to reduce the deficit through Aricheell Hernandez’s penalty in the 63rd minute. However, their hopes were further diminished as Aldair Ruiz received a red card in the 89th minute.
This win signifies a significant achievement for Guadeloupe, marking their first group stage victory since July 9, 2009, and positioning them favorably in the tournament.
