MON STATE – Residents of Khawsa Town in Ye Township reported their concerns after the junta council made announcements, asking people to stay indoors on last Friday morning (June 30).
The soldiers of junta infantry battalion 31 reportedly went around the town in cars starting around 10 a.m. on that morning, shouting on loudspeakers asking people to not go out and those who are working outside to return home.
As this kind of announcement has never been made before, locals are said to be anxious if there would be battles, heavy artillery tests or raids on the town. In addition, students living in military barracks also reportedly did not attend school.
Following the announcements, children at schools returned home and shops also closed leaving the roads in the town empty.
Recently on June 16, a heavy artillery shell fired by junta infantry battalion 31 landed inside Kyaukai Village in Khawsa, killing a woman on the spot.
