SHAN STATE – The junta council was said to have ordered to form reserve battalions with all the staff who did not join the civil disobedience movement (CDM) from Shan State.
On the announcement signed by colonel Sein Win, the junta Minister of Security and Border Affairs for Shan state on August 9, it was ordered that in the region of eastern military command, southern Shan State, the departmental lists have to be recorded and reported to deploy the public militias tactics in the region.
On the order, it was instructed that public militias battalion has to be formed with the reserve forces of the army to deploy the public militias tactics in the region of eastern command, to allot the duty based on the forces and in emergency situations, the plans to deploy the military actions with the reserve forces have to be drawn and reported.
Therefore, all the staff (male/female excluding the police forces) have to be listed and reported as the annex by township level offices and district offices and state offices from Taungyi District, Kalaw District, Paoh self-administrative region and Danu self-administrative region in the east military command by August 17.
“We, the staff, have been mainly given military training and how to fire the small ammunition in Hpaunggyi refresher training course. We have expected to receive such an order. Now it is published. All the staff have to perform military mission. Some staff may run away due to such instruction,’ said an officer from the general administrative department, Taunggyi Township.
