MANDALAY DIVISION – One Pyu Saw Htee (Pyu) militant was killed in the raid on the house of a Pyu militia leader in Tamitetha Village, Taungtha Township, Myingyan District, according to Myingyan District PDF Battalion 3.
On November 29 at past 12 noon, the house of Pyu leader Phoe Aye was raided and his nephew and a Pyu militant Aung Nay Bala (26) was killed in the shootout.
“When they spotted us coming, Phoe Aye’s wife ordered (the Pyu militants) to open fire. They took the initiative and shot at us first. The shootout lasted around 20 minutes and Phoe Aye ran away,” said a company commander from Myingyan District Battalion 3.
He continued that although Phoe Aye escaped, his wife Zar Chi (48) was injured in the stomach and the defence forces confiscated five weapons, over 130 bullets and related items from the militants.
Phoe Aye, surrounded by his militia, is known to extort the passing civilians near Tamitetha Village and also constantly pressure the local youth to join the Pyu militia.
This attack was coordinated by Myingyan District Battalion 3, Taungtha Township People’s Defence Organization (PDO) and Mahlaing Township PDO. Junta forces reportedly arrived at the village and conducted inspections about an hour after the shootout.
Myingyan District Battalion 3 had previously eliminated a military veteran and junta informer Hla Moe at his house in Ingyintha Village, Zagyan Prefecture, Taungtha Township and confiscated a weapon from him on June 5.
