RAKHINE STATE – Arakan Army (AA) continues to rescue civilians who were held as human shields and hostages by the junta council in Pauktaw, Rakhine State, and at least 13 people were rescued in the video released on December 2.
In the video footage released by AA on the morning of December 2, civilians are being evacuated and many houses are on fire due to the junta council’s jets bombing Pauktaw.
Among the evacuated civilians, there are at least 13, and seven of them are children between the ages of 2 and 11.
Among the remaining people, six are women and elderly people aged 65 and over. According to reports, the total number of people who were arrested by the junta council and evacuated by AA has been more than 300.
A total of 306 people have been evacuated in batches of 120 people, 104 people, 59 people, 10 people and this recent batch of 13 people, and the remaining civilians will also be evacuated, AA said.
From November 21 till December 2, the military council attacked Pauktaw City using both navy and air forces and the 12th Police Battalion in Sittwe have also been constantly firing heavy weapons into the town every day.
According to local witnesses, the residential areas of Pauktaw were burnt down due to the heavy weapons of the military council, houses were destroyed, and the city market was burnt to ashes.
