MANDALAY DIVISION-In Taungtha Township, two junta policemen who were returning from extortion money were shot and killed at the spot, said the communications officer of the No. (3) Battalion of Myingyan District.
On December 31, 2023, around 11:00 a.m., in Taungthar Township, a junta police sergeant and a junta policeman who were returning to the Kyawzi area police station were killed on the spot, said the communications officer of the No. (3) Battalion of Myingyan District.
“They came back after extortion in civilian clothes. We were waiting from the side of the road. As soon as we shot, the motorcycle fell into the canyon. Both of them fell and died,” said the person in charge.
The two junta policemen are estimated to be under the age of 30, and some national ID cards, a grenade, about 100,000 Myanmar Kyats of cash were confiscated, said the communications officer of the No. (3) Battalion of Myingyan District.
“They did not have any weapon with them. May be they think it’s not necessary. It would be better if they had it,” said the person in charge of communication.
The bodies of the two police officers who died were brought from the Kyawzi area police station.
The shooting was a joint attack by the No. 3 Battalion of Myingyan District, Taungthar Township (People’s Defense Team) and the Bagan Belu Force.
