RAKHINE STATE – Arakan Army (AA) issued a statement on July 13 saying that the fascist junta council is preparing for defenses in Thandwe Town and Maungdaw Town, Rakhine State and that the junta forces planted landmines at the places where they were stationed, along their retreating routes and at the entrance and the exit of the towns.
It was known that the atrocious junta council is preparing for defenses in Thandwe and Maungdaw where battles are currently breaking out and have planted landmines at the entrances to the towns, at the bridges and the places where they were stationed.
Moreover, the fascist junta council also planted mines at their military bases, the tactical headquarters, the operation command headquarters as well as the roads, schools and pastures near their military camps in the towns that were completely captured by AA and it is said that civilians were killed and lost their body parts after stepping on those landmines planted by junta forces.
It has been reported that the atrocious junta council troops planted landmines to explode the Nan Taw Taung bridge (Nang Chao bridge) in Thandwe Town, on July 12. Moreover, they also planted numerous mines along their retreating routes and in the vicinity of their stationed places.
Therefore, AA warned the public to be aware of the landmines, and to not hunt, herd animals or go to the junta council camps and their vicinity and the places where the junta council troops were temporarily stationed without taking notice of the landmines.
