TANINTHARYI DIVISION- According to residents, the Military Council Air Force bombed the Tharaphone and Pawa villages of Taninthary Township.
Residents of Tharaphone village said that two people were injured and a pig was killed in the military council’s aerial bombardment.
At around 2 p.m., on July 13, K-8W aircraft dropped at least 12 bombs towards the west of Tharaphone village and at least 6 aerial bombs on Pawa village, according to the residents and PDF members.
“At Tharaphone, bombs dropped on the side of residential houses but fell outside the village of Pawa,” said a PDF comrade.
As a result of the bombing, a 40-year-old man from Tharaphone village received a shrapnel wound on the left side of his abdomen and a 41-year-old woman got a cut on her left arm, according to Tharaphone residents.
A domestic pig was also killed with its head cut off, and two houses were slightly damaged, said Tharaphon villagers.
“When we heard the sound of aircraft, we anticipated aerial bombing and ran downstairs, but unluckily the bomb landed in front of our house. I got a cut from shrapnel on my arm. The children are still shaking and crying in fear,” said the injured woman.
In addition to dropping bombs on Tharaphone village, the military council’s warplanes also fired at least 30 rounds with machine guns, according to residents.
In Pawa village, the bombs exploded outside the village and no civilians were harmed, according to residents.
According to information collected by the Tanintharyi Times, there have been at least 48 military airstrikes in Tanintharyi during the first six months of 2024.
At least 8 people were reportedly killed and at least 34 were injured due to the Junta air attack.
