MON STATE – Waw Township People’s Defence Organisation (PDO) said that the joint revolutionary forces attacked the terrorist junta council’s Kokkopin Gate outpost near light infantry battalion (LIB) 207 at the exit of Theinzayat in Kyaikhto Township.
The revolutionary forces launched the attack at around 6:30 a.m. on July 23 and it is said that around 15 junta forces were stationed at that outpost.
“It is Kokkopin Gate at the exit of Theinzayat towards the village, a permanent checkpoint. This is the second time we attacked. The first time was on May 19 afternoon,” said an official from Waw Township PDO.
It is said that there was a 30 minute long exchange of fire and that the revolutionary forces were able to return unharmed.
Seven junta forces were reportedly injured in the attack which was jointly conducted by KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army), ABSDF (All Burma Students Democratic Front) and Waw Township PDO.
It was also reported that following the attack, the junta artillery battalion based in Kyaikhto fired heavy artillery shells into Sitkwin Village, Mawtkhamawt Village, Ahkhine Village, Khaywae Village and Thonekhwa Village.
