NORTHERN SHAN STATE – According to a reliable military source, Military Affairs Security Corps, which was located at the place where the 1027 Operation Part (1) was destroyed in the Battle of Lashio, was captured by MNDAA forces on July 23rd.
According to CDM Captain Zin Yew, on July 23rd, the MNDAA was able to capture the Military Affairs Security Corps, which is adjacent to the Anti-Terrorist Regiment (IB-41), and the defense forces members, the members of ethnic armed groups, those who were interned for participating in the revolution who detained in that regiment were released.
The number of liberated persons are still being investigated.
“There is intense fighting in Ward-1, Yangtine Aung and Lashio-Mongyaw Road, Lashio Gyi. In Ward-12, where Lashio prison is located, we heard gunshots, and a plane was hovering,” one social volunteer from Lashio Ward-10 said.
Lashio Prison in Ward-12, which is adjacent to IB 68, is said to be still resisting with strong defenses. It is reported that the prison staff in the houses in Ward-9 are no longer living in the staff housing, but are moving to the Maw Sabei boarding house in front of the prison.
Currently, the MNDAA forces have surrounded the city and the forces that have arrived in the city are still fighting in Ward 1/2/4/5.
