KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) is attacking to capture the junta light infantry battalion (LIB) 437 in Mongmit, announced its information department.
The joint forces of KIA, Arakan Army (AA), Kachin People’s Defence Force (KPDF) and People’s Defence Force (PDF) are said to have relaunched an offensive on LIB 437 on July 24 morning.
In addition, it was informed that junta infantry battalion 47 was captured on July 25 around 6:30 p.m. and that a large number of weapons and equipment were confiscated. Infantry 47 is located in Mansi Township.
KIA is still maintaining control over Mansi and Mongmit while attacking the remaining junta bases.
The July 26 notice by KIA informed the public of the opening of KIO Police Station in Namphatka, Kutkai Township of northern Shan State and the implementation of KIO governance mechanism in Sumprabum Township of Kachin State.
The preparation to open the Namphatka Police Station began since February and the opening ceremony was held on July 26.
The opening of the police station is intended to provide safety and rule of law to the citizens of Namphatka.
KIO also reportedly held a program to explain its governance mechanism to the local people of Sumprabum Township and the Township Administrator urged the people to stay united despite the military and political challenges.
