NORTHERN SHAN STATE – Residents have reported that fighting is raging on July 30th near the North-eastern Command (NEC) of the Junta Council of Lashio City and there are fires burning.
The video footage of an explosion and fire in the area where NEC is located in Lashio city is spreading on social media, and the local residents confirmed that the footage is the location of NEC.
“Right now, the area is intense in fighting. We can see fire burning nearby. The situation is not good,” said a local man.
There are people who are trapped in the battles in the neighborhoods of the city, and some of the people who were left as housekeepers in their homes were wounded by heavy weapons. There are dead bodies and we cannot pick up the bodies. He said that there are a lot of things that have to leave as it is.
“I heard the Kokang soldiers saying that they will completely clear Lashio by the end of this month. There are almost no soldiers in the other areas they control. They are all going towards Lashio,” said a local.
Currently in Lashio city, the fierce battles next to the station, around the foot of the Sasana 2500 mountain, Ward (8), the Senwi Road side, the Lashio Gyi side and in junta’s NEC.
BPLA News and Information reported that on July 28th and 29th, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the Burma People’s Liberation Army (BPLA) allied forces attacked and seized the Communications Battalion based in Lashio, No. (7005) Armored Battalion, the No. (242) Military Weapons Division and the military golf course.
