YANGON DIVISION – The administration officers appointed by the terrorist junta council are extorting the civilians at the villages in Thanlyin Township and Kawhmu Township, using the conscription law and claiming it’s for guards, according to the residents.
Junta administration officers collected 30,000 Kyats from young people who want to avoid conscription in Zalotegyi Village and Aphyauk Village in Kawhmu Township. Moreover, they collected regular payments from people with high income for an immunity from conscription and also extorted money for guards claiming security reasons.
“At Zalotegyi Village, the administration officer and the junta forces colluded and asked residents for guards and demanded money from households that couldn’t provide guards. The administration officer at Aphyauk Village is also pretty horrible. They are forcibly conscripting in the village and demanded 30,000 Kyats per person from people who want to avoid it. They say seamen have immunity from conscription but collected regular payments,” said the residents.
Similarly in Kalawae Village in Thanlyin Township where there are around 1,000 households, administration officer Tint Wam and hundred households chiefs Than Tun Aung, Ko Thant, Than Lwin, Maung Zaw, Tun Naing, Kyaw Swar (aka) Lay Gyi, Han Soe and Moe Mhaung (aka) Maung Mya were collecting 15,000 Kyats per household every month, using the conscription law.
