MYANMAR – The terrorist junta chief Min Aung Hlaing sent Brigadier General Thet Tun Oo from Nay Pyi Taw Defense Services Headquarters over to Coastal Region Command to work together with Regional Commander Brigadier General Pyae Sone Lin on military operations, according to sources within the junta army.
Min Aung Hlaing, scared of mutiny from regional command commanders, is reportedly sending his trusted aides from Nay Pyi Taw to the regional military commands to watch the commanders.
Min Aung Hlaing is said to have transferred absolute authority over military operations in the coastal region to Brigadier General Thet Tun Oo without removing the former Coastal Region Command Commander, making it seem as if the current commander Brigadier General Pyae Sone Lin has no skills in managing operations.
“We want to say that Thet Tun Oo has been given the authority to commit atrocities in the coastal region, half of Mon State and the entire Tanintharyi Division. He now has the absolute authority over all important operations at the regional command. The former commander now has no power. The situation is not good,” explained CDM Captain Zin Yaw.
Brigadier General Thet Tun Oo is a loyal follower of Min Aung Hlaing and is someone who will absolutely follow Min Aung Hlaing’s orders, which is why he was sent to be in charge of a position with higher authority than the regional command commander, according to military sources.
“The current regional command commander is also a trusted aide of Min Aung Hlaing. This newly sent guy also doesn’t need to report to higher ups. So this must be to undermine up to Deputy Commander-in-Chief Soe Win,” said another military source.
