SAGAING DIVISION – A Mi 35 helicopter of the terrorist junta council that came as security for the Mi 17 helicopter delivering reinforcement troops and rations to Ye U on August 13 opened fire on the villages near Muu River in the east of Ye U, forcing thousands of civilians to flee, reported Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw (Amaethar), the information officer of Ye U based People Defence Comrade.
It is said that thousands of civilians had to flee due to the reckless airstrikes by the junta helicopter and the civilians are living in anxiety as the junta council would always carry out airstrikes when delivering rations to Ye U.
“The Mi 17 that took off again last evening (August 13) landed in Ye U to deliver troops and rations when the Mi 35 flew over and opened fire on the area around the Muu River to the east of Ye U, for no reason. They are very scared that our forces would attack them everytime they deliver troops to Ye U. They open fire on the villages next to Ye U. The civilians fled worried that there might be more airstrikes. Three or four villages that the helicopter flew over have fled. The people have also received news that a dog column (junta column) might launch an offensive so other villages have also prepared to flee,” explained Mr. Htoo Khant Zaw.
