MYANMAR – People’s Liberation Army (PLA) announced on August 15 that they celebrated the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party (Burma).
The Communist Party (Burma), formed in 1939, celebrates the 85th anniversary of its founding on August 15 and the ceremony was held in Northwest Military Region No. 815 (Western Chindwin River Region) of the PLA and included the hoisting and saluting the PLA flag, speeches, musical performances and photo exhibition.
The ceremony was attended by allied organisations and local civilians.
PLA also mentioned victories dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the party in its message to the ceremony.
PLA is said to have captured Hsenwi and junta Military Operations Command 16 during the first wave of Operation 1027 and a large number of junta outposts including the base of infantry battalion 68 during the capture of Lashio in the second wave and also took part in the battles to capture Mongmit.
PLA was first established at the beginning of the Spring Revolution based on the underground network of the Communist Party (Burma) and the first military training of PLA began under the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) with 32 comrades.
PLA informed that it has currently established Military Region 1 (Sagaing Region), Military Region 2 (Ta’ang Region), Military Region 9 (Kokang Region), Military Region 8 (Tanintharyi Region) and Northwest Military Region (Western Chindwin River Region).
