MANDALAY DIVISION – A military source in Nay Pyi Taw said that the Military Council has removed Major General Aung Khaing Win, the commander of the Central Regional Command, from his position due to his inability to defend the offensive of the People’s Defense Forces in Mandalay Region, and has appointed Major General Kyaw Ko Hteik as the new commander.
Major General Aung Khaing Win, who became the regional commander of the Central Military Command in early July, was removed from his position on August 16 after serving as the regional commander for just over 1 month. He was removed from his position and suspended because he could not defend the offensive of the PDF troops mainly in Mandalay Division. Major General Aung Khaing Win graduated from the Defense Services Academy (DSA) in batch 36 and was transferred from the position of Commander of the Triangle Regional Command to the Commander of the Central Regional Command about 1 month ago.
It is learned that Major General Kyaw Ko Hteik, a 38 batch graduate of the DSA, has been appointed as the new commander of the Central Regional Command.
Currently, the revolutionary forces, including the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay), have attacked and have occupied Mogok township, Sint Gu township in the Mandalay division. They are conducting offensives in various places, including Thabeikkyin, Madaya, Myingyan, Taung Tha, Natogyi. It is learned that the junta council troops have a lot of suffering and are abandoning the camp.
