SAGAING DIVISION – The people assisting the war displaced civilians said that more than 20,000 displaced in Depayin Township are in urgent need of food.
The war displaced people include the people of Depayin town, and also from the villages on the Depayin- Ye U road, and about 20 villages near the town such as Ywathit, Methei, Yindway, Wapar, Hmanthar, Let Yet Kone, Maeoh, Aungchanthar,Pyawbwe, Masoeyein villages etc.,
“Food is the main item in need for those fleeing the war. We also have to divide the food we have among the displaced camps as it is not sufficient,” said the in charge person Mr.Phyo of Depayin Township Brothers Group.
Those displaced fleeing the war are the people who fled from August 16 to August 19 before the battle to capture Depayin Town.
As it is the rainy season, the war refugees reportedly have to take shelter in the monasteries and schools of the villages, and the villagers cook and feed them.
Some of those fleeing the war are sheltering in temporary tents under the trees on the road side, and some sheltering at relatives and friends’ houses. “They have to cook and eat on their own with what they have,” added Mr.Phyo.
On Sunday (August 18), after the revolutionary forces attacked and captured Depayin Town, the terrorist military council dropped more than 100 reinforcement troops from the air route on the same day and are trying to regain control of the town.
