SAGAING DIVISION- An official from the 28th Battalion of Yinmapin District told the Media that a policeman from Salingyi Township Police Station defected to them along with a weapon and ammunition.
On August 25, at around 4:00 p.m., Private Win Ko, a policeman from the Salingyi Station, brought 1 weapon and defected to the 28th Battalion of the People’s Defense Forces (PDF), Yinmapin District.
“He is a policeman. He reportedly defected yesterday and we welcomed him. He had a G3 gun and 15 rounds of ammunition with him. In any case, I feel proud that he defected from the wrong side and joined the right side. As a special reward (for bringingng the weapons along), our battalion gave 5 million kyats to the defector,” said Mr. Swan Thu Maung, an officer of the 28th (Darmasaing) Battalion.
