SAGAING DIVISION – The Township People’s Security Force (PSF) reported that they confiscated five motorcycles and one side car attached motorcycle that were left behind by thieves who broke into No. 6 cotton and garment factory that used to be under the junta council in Salingyi Township.
While Salingyi Township PSF was on their patrol around 12 p.m. on August 23, they discovered the vehicles left behind by the thieves and confiscated them.
“We try to not arrest them if possible but chase them away. If they continue stealing, we have to detain them. They get around four or five lakhs just picking up machine parts once,” said the communication and information technology officer of the PSF.
They recently detained six men who broke into the factory pretending to be traders on August 24 and handed them over to the Township People’s Administration Body (PAB).
“Junta forces have not been stationed at this factory for well over a year. Before, Battalion 4 took charge of security there. But as there is the military situation now, we were told to take over at the previous monthly meeting between the PDF, PAB and PSF,” continued the PSF officer.
The No. 6 cotton and garment factory is the second largest public factory with over 800 loom machines. The factory has not been in operation since 2021 due to the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
