RAKHINE STATE – The Arakan Army (AA) announced on August 26 night that more than 100 terrorist junta soldiers and affiliates were killed in battle at Maungtaw and a large number of prisoners of war (POW) and weapons and ammunition were seized.
AA is reported to have consecutively captured the defenses of junta forces, junta trained militants as well as ARSA, ARO and RSA militia in Phayzi Village and Maungni Village, Ward No. 2, Maungtaw.
During the three days period from August 24 to 26, AA is said to have buried over 100 junta forces and junta affiliate militants and also captured several POW in and outside Maungtaw.
AA informed that at the same time, they are chasing the armed runaway troops of the terrorist junta council and its affiliate forces and launching attacks on remaining junta defenses, and this battles are still taking place in Maungtaw and several other places.
In Thandwe Township, fierce clashes between the AA and the terrorist junta council are happening at Maungshwelay Navy base and near Kyaukpasat Village and Kyaintali Town in Gwa Township.
It is said that fighting is still intense as the junta council is reinforcing its number using eight warships and also providing heavy artillery support.
