KARENNI STATE – Chief Minister Zaw Myo Tin under the junta council, said that a census will be collected in Karenni from October 1.
It was said at the meeting held at the government office in Loikaw City that in the coming days, the population census and the number of houses in Karenni State will be collected in 2024 for the election to be held by junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
“The Chief Minister is working very hard but not because he is benevolent to the people, but because he wants to show that he could rule even in such a situation. People are also fleeing. They have destroyed the houses, so what will they collect?” said a Loikaw resident.
There are only about 30 percent of the people who have returned to their homes in Loikaw City. Residents said that there is little chance of implementation at the moment as there is still fighting almost every day in areas such as Mailone, Ywatan Shae, Pankan and GTC.
In addition, the two townships, Shadaw and Mae Se, are fully controlled by the revolutionary forces. Furthermore, in Rhuso, Demoso, Bawlakhe and Hparsawng Townships, even though there are junta council camps, the terrorist soldiers don’t dare to go out.
Therefore, the issue of the current junta council’s census is just to spread propaganda that they can rule.
“Their administration remains in Loikaw only. Even then it’s not like they have full control. Maybe this is propaganda that they can control or it is to divert attention because they want to launch attacks,” said a source on the frontline.
It has been investigated that the junta council in Loikaw has recruited about 40 veterans and young residents to join the militia who are currently assigned security duties.
