MON STATE – Major Naing Aung Tun from junta artillery battalion 314 in Bilin Township is reported to have died in a car crash while returning from a farewell party.
The junta major hosted a farewell party at Oasis KTV, as he was going to sit a promotion exam for the position of battalion commander, on September 2 and left the party and headed to Shwe Sin Oo Inn at around midnight to rest when he crashed into a parked vehicle in front of Shwepanchi Teashop.
“Because it happened in the middle of the night, the military collected his body immediately and covered up the news. His wife also lives in Yangon, not in the military barracks. As it was late night, many people were not aware of what happened. The army also erased all traces of the accident as it was not good for appearances since he died while leaving a KTV at midnight. His wife is a department head at the junta Ministry of Irrigation. His body is in the morgue at Bilin Hospital. The funeral will be held tomorrow (September 4),” said a local news source.
The deceased junta major was the chief person responsible for shelling the civilian villages and was also a leader in sealing off the house belonging to Ms. Thiri Yadanar, the NLD MP for Bilin.
“The major who was behind the orders to constantly shell the villages died a terrible death with his internal organs crushed in a car crash. It must be karma for killing innocent civilians,” said a resident.
Bilin Artillery Battalion 314, led by deceased Major Naing Aung Tun, frequently shells the villages in Shweyaungpya Village Tract, Bilin Township, which caused the deaths of multiple civilians, including young children.
