MYANMAR – The Anti-terrorism Central Team of the National Unity Government (NUG) published an announcement on September 3, saying that the junta council’s announcement declaring the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Arakan Army (AA) terrorist organisations is not legitimate.
This was in response to the junta council’s own Anti-terrorism Central Team declaring the three ethnic armed groups terrorist organisations on September 2.
NUG said that the announcement declaring MNDAA, TNLA and ULA/AA, the ethnic revolutionary organisations that are fighting for Federal Democracy while defending the lives and properties of civilians, terrorist organisations made by the Anti-terrorism Central Team of the terrorist coup council is invalid as the team was formed by the junta council that has been declared to be an illegitimate, terrorist group.
In addition, NUG also declared the junta council’s Anti-terrorism Central Team and the chairman and members of that team terrorists as they are found to be abetting the terrorist junta council in crimes of terror.
The NUG Anti-terrorism Central Team declared the junta council a terrorist group in March, 2021.
Moreover, the department of justice also declared the junta council that proclaimed itself a government, an illegitimate organisation on August 2, 2021.
The junta council defied the results of the 2022 general election and staged a coup to steal the power from the civilian government, committing treason against the state and in trying to reinstate dictatorship, made use of State mechanisms to terrorize and commit war crimes against the people which led to the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) also declaring it a terrorist group.
