KACHIN STATE – There were sounds of gunfire near the Hpakant strategic hill at around 10 a.m. on September 10, local residents reported.
Locals fled for safety due to the sounds of explosion and gunfire from the terrorist army’s strategic hill.
“Schools are closed and students were also sent back home. People are staying on alert. Some moved to other wards,” said a local resident.
Some residents said that the junta council’s strategic hill was being attacked by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), and joint People’s Defence Forces (PDF) but it is not confirmed.
Fighting between the KIA and PDF joint forces and the military council began in Hpakant on September 4. There are news that the military situation may continue to escalate.
In addition, the KIA/KPDF joint forces captured two military camps of the fascist council, Tawhmaw and La Maung, which are important for the military council’s strategic hill.
The allied KIA and PDF joint forces have reportedly also seized junta council’s armed militia “Pyi Thu Sit” camp at Panwar Town in the morning of September 6 but the details are still being investigated.
