RAKHINE STATE – The locals said that the junta council battalions continued firing heavy weapons on September 6 morning in Sittwe Township, Rakhine State.
According to a resident, the heavy weapon firing started at about 10:40 a.m. and stopped at about 1 p.m. He added that the junta forces fired from all junta stations around Sittwe such as the Marine base, battalions, police stations and the view point, using cannons and series of missiles.
A local of Pauktaw Township said that the junta forces fired over 20 rounds of heavy weapons and that there were shells that landed in Pauktaw Township.
“I heard over 20 rounds of firing and there were some that landed in Pauktaw Township. It landed near Pauktaw Town, and Taungphuu and Taungoomaw Villages. I haven’t heard about any civilian casualties yet,” said the resident.
It has been reported that junta battalions from Sittwe Township often fire heavy weapons into Pauktaw Township which has resulted in locals getting killed, injured and damages to the houses.
Recently in Sittwe Township, there have been an exchange of fire in Warbo Village and there was also a battle between the AA (Arakan Army) and junta troops in Minhla Village.
