MYANMAR – An official from Danu People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) announced that the hunt soldiers retreated and ran away after engaging in three battles in Kyaukgu Region of Yaksauk Township, southern Shan State.
DPLA attacked the terrorist junta soldiers stationed at Kyaukgu Police Station around 5 a.m. on September 6 and also got into two clashes against the junta reinforcement.
The terrorist junta column that came to reinforce Kyaukgu Police Station was attacked by DPLA first at around 1:50 p.m. then again at 3:10 p.m., and reportedly retreated after that.
“We don’t know the exact details of casualties. The (junta) reinforcement from Yaksauk already retreated. There are still junta forces at Kyaukgu Police Station. We first attacked those at the police station then clashed against the reinforcement column. All our comrades are safe,” said the DPLA official.
Similarly in Hpakant, Kachin State, battles have been heating up for four days between the junta council troops and the joint forces of Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and People’s Defence Force (PDF). It is said that the residents of Kyangat, Htonepho, Ywahaung, Nanatchan and Sarkyin are fleeing and the junta strategic hill in Hpakant is providing heavy artillery fire support.
Battle broke out between KIA joint forces and around 100 junta forces heading to Kyangat from Hpakant on September 4 and the fighting was still ongoing on September 7.
“They fired heavy weapons from Hpakant strategic hill. Two civilians were injured by junta artillery fire. The junta council is launching offensives now to regain control of eastern Hpakant,” explained a KIA source.
