UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – The Hawaii-based East West Center, the United States, has awarded the “Myanmar Affairs Performance Recognition Award” to Dr. Miemie Winn Byrd, for her active participation in Myanmar’s democracy.
At the Town Hall Meeting in Hawaii on the night of September 8, an awarding ceremony was held for the recognition of Myanmar’s efforts and the People’s Honors Committee also presented a certificate of “Recognition of Myanmar’s Activities”.
Prof. Dr. Miemie Winn Byrd expressed her gratitude for this award. She said that the award is an award given to all those who are fighting for the cause of Myanmar’s democracy with all kinds of sacrifices.
“This award by the East West Center Group, which is a leader in public diplomatic relations around the world, is a great opportunity to engage with the international community for this revolution against the military dictatorship,” said Dr. Miemie Winn Byrd.
Burmese citizens from Hawaii, as well as American citizens and Myanmar activists from all over the United States attended the award ceremony.
