KACHIN STATE – The terrorist junta council’s navy fleet returning to Shwegu Township were attacked and one of the ship sunk while two other ships are stranded in the river with the engines damaged, according to the military news source of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
Five junta ships that were sailing back towards Banmauk after staying at Shwegu Port for four days were attacked by KIA and PDF joint forces in upper Shwegu around 8 a.m. on September 18, damaging two ships. The junta ships then headed back to Shwegu Port at around 11 a.m.
Out of the three junta ships that returned to Shwegu, one sank in upper Shwegu Township around 1:40 p.m. and the remaining two ships were also stranded in the river after KIA and PDF forces attacked them near Myalel Village around 5:40 p.m., damaging their engines.
“The ships that returned to Shwegu in the afternoon went up the river at around 1:40 p.m. One of the ships loaded with goods sank near upper Shwegu. Two more ships were hit and damaged after we attacked from near Myalel Village around 5:40 p.m. They can’t continue forward and are stranded. They might sink as well,” said the KIA military news source.
