CHIN STATE – The regional office of the Lautu Region People’s Administration Body announced on September 20 that fishing in all streams and rivers is banned in the Lautu Region till November 30 as it is the fish breeding season.
It is said that catching or gathering fish in any form is prohibited during the breeding season, and anyone found breaking the order shall be subjected to a fine between a minimum of 100,000 kyats and a maximum of 300,000 MMK, a criminal punishment, or both.
According to Section 38 (d) of the Lautu Act, the order was issued to implement the decisions made at the September 14 coordination meeting between the regional administration team and the ward/village administration bodies.
It was also mentioned that the order shall remain in place till repealed or amended by the regional office of the Lautu Region People’s Administration Body.
