YANGON DIVISION – Instead of interviewing, the ward administration team of the junta council distributed sheets containing questions related to the census in Hlaingthaya Township, due to security concerns.
The coup leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the junta council will conduct a nationwide census from October 1 to 15 and that there will be interviews, telling the people to answer the questions.
“Yesterday (September 25), the hundred-household chief and the clerks came. There are questions that need to be answered when the census is taken. In order not to spend unnecessary time and for safety reasons, they gave out papers with questions. They asked us to answer these questions first and they will ask the necessary questions later in person again,” said a local resident of Hlaingthaya.
In the question paper distributed by the junta council’s administration group in Hlaingthaya, the main question is on the resume of each person, and other information will be asked by the immigration and the relevant departments staffs.
Security teams are being formed in all townships in Yangon, including Hlaingthaya, for the nationwide census that will begin on October 1. During the census, the terrorist council’s members of the ward and village administration will be responsible for the main security, and its subordinate armed militias Pyu Saw Htee and the Pyithusit will also work together.
