MANDALAY DIVISION – Mandalay residents reported that there were sounds of missiles and explosions heard in the early morning of September 29 from near the Mandalay Palace where the junta council’s central division is headquartered.
Around 2:40 a.m. on September 29, sounds of missiles and explosions were heard, assumed to be from the central division. It is said that the explosion was extremely loud and strong enough to send out ripples of vibrations.
“I heard the sound of missiles fired this morning (September 29) at 2:38 a.m., followed by explosions. There were four explosions. It felt like rockets flew over the house. The explosion seemed to be quite strong,” said a resident.
Similarly, a resident from Patheingyi Township reported being woken up by sounds of explosion around 2:40 a.m., adding that they heard three consecutive explosions.
The junta central division in the Mandalay Palace is frequently targeted by missile attacks with a similar attack happening as recently as September 3.
