MYANMAR- According to Bangladesh news, the Bangladesh government returned 123 military council members who fled to the border area due to the AA attack in Rakhine State this Sunday (September 29) and the junta council reportedly released 85 Bangladeshi prisoners.
A total of 85 Bangladesh citizens who have been serving various sentences in Myanmar prisons will be returning home this Sunday.
Junta soldiers and members of the Myanmar Border Guard Force who fled from Rakhine State to Bangladesh will also be sent back home.
Deputy Commissioner of Bangladesh Cox’s Bazar, Mohammad Salahuddin said, “85 Bangladeshi prisoners in Myanmar jails will be return home after serving their sentences.” He also confirmed that 115 Myanmar border guards and 8 soldiers, total 123 who fled to Bangladesh will be sent back to Myanmar.
The repatriation program between the two countries is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination and similar (social) negotiations have been done between the two countries previously.
On February 15th, 330 members of the Military Council who fled from Rakhine to Bangladesh were sent back home. On April 25, 288 Myanmar Military personnel and on June 8, 134 junta troops were reportedly sent back to Myanmar by the Bangladeshi authorities.
