BAGO DIVISION – Comrade Duyar, the information officer of Tharyarwaddy District Battalion 3802 reported that the junta council forces that were advancing towards Gamone Dam in Oakpho Township were attacked, resulting in the death of 12 junta soldiers and four weapons including a mortar were seized.
The junta forces from light infantry 6 under junta infantry division 66 that launched an offensive on October 3 around 9 a.m. towards Gamone Dam in the territory controlled by the People’s Defence Force (PDF) were intercepted by PDF Battalion 3802, Company 4. The exchange of fire lasted for over an hour where the junta forces retreated after 12 junta soldiers were killed and 14 were injured.
During the battle, two G-3 rifles, one MA-1 rifle, one 60mm BA100 mortar, one Energa grenade, 181 G-3 bullets, 13 MA-1 bullets, four cartridges, one set of equipment, five backpacks, two helmets, one raincoat, 7,400 Kyats in cash, five mobile phones and ID cards were seized from the junta forces.
Currently, the junta council is carrying out military activities in Oakpho Township and Gyobinkauk Township using massive number of forces and the PDF forces are defending against them but it is said that there is a need for ammunition.
“The battle took place this morning (October 3). It lasted around one and a half hour. The came up here after we announced that we are maintaining Gamone Dam in the past few days. We managed to seize four weapons: a mortar and three guns,” said Comrade Duyar.
