MANDALAY DIVISION- The Political Prisoners Network in Myanmar (PPNM) announced that Mandalay Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung died due to insufficient medical care in the prison under the Military Council, last Monday (October 7).
The Minister of Mandalay Division, who was unjustly sentenced to 29 years in Obo Prison, reportedly passed away at 3 a.m. on October 7.
The Minister suffered greatly from leukemia and was only allowed to be transferred out of Obo prison to Mandalay Hospital in September 2024, and passed away on the morning of October 7.
Since the junta regime restricted permission to deliver medicine to political prisoners and inmates, it has become difficult to get the necessary medicine in prison.
In addition, there is not enough medicine and medical care in the prison. When suffering from a medical emergency, neither the prison doctors visit (in time) nor the inmates suffering from chronic diseases are allowed to go to the hospital outside the prison, some political prisoners pass away (in prison) every month.
