MON STATE – The New Mon Party NMSP-AD confirmed that a battalion of the Mon ethnic armed force, the New Mon State Party (NMSP), has split from the NMSP and joined the New Mon State Party-Anti Dictatorship (NMSP-AD), which is fighting the military council.
The NMSP’s Mon National Liberation Army (MNLA) in the Phaya Thonhsue area joined forces with the NMSP-AD on October 6th, said NMSP-AD spokesperson Nai Banya Mon.
“I’m just going to tell you that it is true, it’s all about this news,” said Nai Banya Mon.
Nai Banya Mon said that NMSP was organized by the battalions of Mawlamyine District Battalion, Dawei District Battalion, Thathon District Battalion, Phaya Thonhsue Area Battalion and Yay Chaung Phyar Region Battalion
NMSP is a group that has signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), and there is a difference of opinion within the group about attacking the junta council. Early this year, a group consisting of top political and military leaders formed NMSP-AD and is attacking the military council.
NMSP-AD does not accept any political discussion based on NCA. It has informed that it opposes any attempt to reactivate the 2008 constitution. In addition, it has been announced that it will attack the Junta Council in cooperation with ethnic armed groups and Spring Revolution groups.
