MYANMAR- According to a foreign employment agency, the military council ordered the agencies to transfer back 25% of the monthly salary from the MOU workers in Thailand to their (military council’s) banks in Myanmar.
The Terrorist Military Council collected the number of Myanmar workers who went to Thailand under the MOU system through foreign employment agencies and verified that more than 100,000 workers were sent under the MOU.
The Junta Council has ordered the agencies to send back 25 percent of the monthly salary of those (more than 100,000) workers.
“The agencies must make sure that all MOU workers remit 25 percent of their monthly salary to local (military council) banks.
Ministry of Labor under the junta regime threatened that the agency the licenses would be revoked and action would be taken if they didn’t follow their order. Whoever sent more workers under the MOU must be responsible for returning 25 percent of their wages,” an official from the Foreign Employment Agency told the news agency.
At a time when foreign income is low, the junta regime is trying to get salary remittances from millions of expatriate Myanmar workers (in US dollars and foreign currencies). On the other hand, the passports of Myanmar workers who do not transfer 25% of their salary to the banks in Myanmar or avoid paying taxes are not renewed and banned, announced the Junta Council.
