MYANMAR – USAID vowed on the international mental health day to heal the mental trauma of the Myanmar people, inflicted by political conflicts, and to provide mental health assistance to the most vulnerable communities of Myanmar.
USAID stated that good mental health is necessary to building resilience and including it would ensure survival well development of communities, adding that they are putting in effort to providing assistance to the communities effected by the conflicts and improving the efficiency of regional leaders in order to create space spaces to heal mentally.
While helping to build a hopeful future and improve the mental health and resilience of Myanmar on one hand, USAID stressed that the journey to mental health is not one of solitude but should be something that should be prioritised as a community.
In addition, UNICEF Myanmar also stated that it is important to provide mental health assistance in addition to safe education spaces and community to shelter children in conflict zones, pointing out that only then will they be able to receive assistance to heal from their mental wounds to grow up and survive despite the challenges.
UNICEF Myanmar stated on international mental health day that only by prioritising the physical and mental health of children we will be able to build a more healthy and sufficient future.
