MYANMAR – Beth Van Schaack, the U.S. ambassador-at-large for global criminal justice, said that the junta council’s planned election for next year won’t be a fair and free election but will only serve to hand power over to the junta council.
The ambassador-at-large said that the election is only to give the power to the junta regime and that it is difficult to even imagine how to conduct and manage a fair election when there are conflicts in almost all regions of the country.
Meanwhile, the junta council is currently conducting census, aiming to hold an election next year.
