TANINTHARYI DIVISION – An official from Myeik People’s Defence Organisation (PDO) said that five people who were forcibly conscripted by the junta council in Myeik Township entered the legal fold.
On October 13, three recruits from Kawthoung based junta light infantry 431 deserted their posts while at Myeik based infantry 103 and surrendered to Myeik PDO. One of the three was from Danuphyu, Ayeyarwaddy Division while the other two were from Taunggyi of Shan State. All three had been selected and forcibly conscripted by the terrorist junta council.
Similarly, a recruit forcibly conscripted by junta Shwedu Battalion on October 11 fled and took shelter under Myeik PDO on October 13. He was reportedly abducted by the junta council in Myeik around 5:30 p.m. that day on his way back from work then threatened and forcibly conscripted.
A recruit from the first batch of conscription stationed at Tonebyawgyi Station under infantry 103 in Myeik Township also similarly surrendered to Myeik PDO on September 21, bringing along a MA2 gun, two hand grenades and 184 bullets.
Myeik PDO said they have warmly welcomed and cared for those who entered the legal fold and informed that the junta forces who have realized the truth and wish to join the side of the people can contact them.
