SAGAING DIVISION – Ministry of Defence said on October 15 that Mr. Yee Mon, Union Minister of Ministry of Defence (MoD) under National Unity Government (NUG) visited and cheered on the victorious comrades in Pinlebu Town capturing battle in Kawlin District.
The Union Minister Yee Mon visited and encouraged on the victorious comrades who participated in the Pinlebu Town capturing operation, on October 10.
The statement of the Ministry of Defense also stated that the Union Minister entered and inspected the occupied Pinlebu Town and met with the prisoners of war who had surrendered.
The operations to capture Pinlebu Town started on August 15 and was successfully attacked and captured on October 8.
During the battle, about 70 of terrorist junta soldiers were killed, while 275 were missing, 225 were injured (60 critically), 48 returned to legal fold, and 102 were captured as prisoners of war.
More than 400 heavy and light weapons, a lot of ammunitions and related materials of the junta were seized, as well as a lot of opium used by terrorist junta soldiers.
Pinlebu Town is bordering Kawlin, Wuntho, Banmauk and Paungbyin towns and it is a strategic town on the route connecting the Irrawaddy River basin and the Chindwin River basin.
The Ministry of Defence has also announced that the attack and capture of Pinlebu Town was able to break an important defensive line of the enemy’s army and showed the fighting ability of the People’s Defence Forces (PDFs).
