KACHIN STATE: Colonel Nawbu, a spokesman of Kachin Independence Army-KIA, confirmed that KIA has captured at least (8) bases of junta’s council and militants (Pyi Thu Sitt), including the headquarter of No.(1003) border guard force near Kanpaikti in Kachin state.
Colonel Nawbu explained that KIA and its coalition forces has captured the headquarter of No.(1003) border guard force near Kanpaikti in Kachin Special Zone (1) by Zakhong Teim Yaing under the junta’s council at around 5 p.m. on October 21 and are cleaning up the camp from land mines and other explosives. Currently, the numbers of caught prisoners of war and the confiscated weapons and ammunition are not clearly identified yet.
“We cannot mention what we are going to do. According to the report from front line, the headquarter of No.(1003) border guard force was captured yesterday evening on October 21. We don’t know the situation of prisoners of war and the confiscated weapons and ammunition yet,” Colonel Nawbu said.
In recent days, it was known that KIA has captured at least (8) bases of junta’s council and militants (Pyi Thu Sitt), including the headquarter of No.(1003) border guard force and the military tension is still high.
Colonel Nawbu said, “I think they are about (8) military bases including No.(1003) base and other outposts.”
KIA and its revolutionary coalition forces have attacked and captured over (200) military bases by the junta’s council and (14) towns in Kachin state and northern Shan state from March (7) till now.
