AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – The terrorist junta council forces at Pyapon Bridge in Pyapon Township, Ayeyarwaddy Division are said to be pointing their weapons at civilians and extorting money daily, according to residents.
It is said that they would ask to see the ID cards then straight up extort those who didn’t bring one or use various reasons such as the card is expired or that the person has crossed states to demand cash.
“Most young people from Ayeyarwaddy are working at garment factories in Yangon. It is a time for them to visit home yet their salaries would be taken by those bastards (junta forces) before they could even gift their own parents. Each person has to pay from 1,000 to 5,000. There are at least 100 people extorted daily. The young people are always in fear because they are threatened with weapons pointed at them,” said a resident of Pyapon.
The junta forces have been extorting people at Pyapon Bridge since 2023 and things didn’t improve despite the people making complaints multiple times.
“The people are told to show their IDs. Even if they had their IDs, they would be brought inside and extorted, saying that the ID needs to be updated. Those with updated IDs would be extorted saying they crossed states. There were also those extorted for not bringing smart cards. The people who talked back would be made to kneel like criminals,” continued the resident.
