MYANMAR: Some merchants based in Muse reported that Chinese authorities had prohibited exporting electrical devices, personal use items, household appliances, machinery products, and appliances through the border gates to Myanmar without providing any reasons.
Since October 22, Chinese Authorities have been known to tightly check electronic devices, personal use items, household appliances, machinery products, and appliances through the border gates, including the gates from Muse—Kyae Gaung to Myanmar. However, some clothes and food items have been allowed to be carried by people. On the other hand, electrical devices, machinery products, appliances, and medicines were tightly secured.
“Since the morning of October 22, the things have been prohibited from being imported to Myanmar. Electrical devices and medicines are not allowed to be carried. The food items are allowed for personal use only. Even the motorcycles are not allowed. If the prohibited items are seen, the pass of the owners will be removed, and they will be banned from coming into China for four years. Machinery items are strictly prohibited, and the time when the prohibition will continue is not known. We asked why the prohibition was imposed but did not receive any explanation,” as said by the small-scale merchant from Muse.
The merchants explained that the imported items to Myanmar are tightly secured by many groups from China at the border gates. Cars, motorcycles, and tricycles are tightly inspected, and the prohibited items are seen carrying; those are taken away from the vehicles. The items of those who do not have the official import and export licenses and documents are not allowed to be carried from the border gates.
“Formerly, the items bought online could be carried by showing the package, but not now. Even the Bluetooth headsets are not allowed to carry. The security is tightly stricter. Online businesses are also restricted,” said by a Muse-based person who is selling mobile phones and accessories via online shopping.
Since the Northern Alliance forces captured the towns, regions, and junta’s military camps in the northern Shan state, the Chinese government started prohibiting the border gates in the revolutionary forces-controlled regions.
Finally, the Chinese government now totally prohibits the items and goods carried to Myanmar.
On the other hand, the atrocious junta’s council is attempting to confiscate the illegally imported products from China and Thailand, which cannot be proved with any documents, announcing to destruction of illegal trades that support the ethnic revolutionary armed forces throughout Myanmar.
