SAGAING DIVISION: Township People’s Administration Body announced on October 24 that South Yama Dam in Pale township, Sagaing division, is not under critical condition yet though the water level is higher than usual.
As there are torrential rain in northern Magway, the water level in south Yama stream has reached 662.5 feet which is two feet over in spillway from the 660 feet of full water level of the dam at 1 p.m. on October 24.
When spillway is over 3 and half feet, it is recognised as the critical point and south Yama stream can overflow then the drain connected to the dam releases 7 inches of water.
So far, the water level is not critical condition yet but the warning is released that the children are not allowed to take a bath in the stream nor play in the stream and the emergency travellers are alerted to cross the stream cautiously.
The condition of south Yama dam is under the close scrutiny and the civilians will be reported in time, announced by Township People’s Administration Body.
