KAREN STATE – Local residents mentioned that junta council has been forcibly demanding to give 4.3 million kyats from each village to hold a traditional Karen dance competition and boat race in Thiri square to commemorate the 79th Karen State Day.
The junta lackey village administrators are forcing to compulsorily give 10,000 kyats per each household by October 25.
“4 million kyats from each village. There are many villages nearby, so it is asking for billions of money. They said it is the order from junta council. Last years, we can give as we wish, like 2000, 4000 kyats. But now, we are forced to give more. The lackey administrators said that they had noted down the house that did not pay the money,” a local resident explained.
While the villages of Karen State are facing difficulties due to flood, the civilians are being forced to give money for junta council. When the living hood is not in good condition, the military council is threatening to collect money for the commemorative competition, thus the local people are suffering more and more.
