TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Locals reported that the junta council forces repeatedly set fire to the houses in Kadae Village, Palaw Township over two days.
It is said that the junta forces in the village set fire to the houses on October 28 afternoon as well as October 27 evening.
“The smokes are rising up from separate areas. They are not setting fire to the same area. They must be picking and torching the houses,” said a resident.
Residents and defence forces shared that the junta forces torched the village despite there not being any battles.
Junta forces had also burned down houses with no residents in Kyae Village on October 18 morning and houses in Zayatseik village on October 23.
As the residents are fleeing, the exact number of destroyed houses is not known yet.
Since the 14th of this month, there have been constant battles between the junta council and defence forces in areas such as Kyae, Sattawyar, Tapo, Zayatseik, Pala, Thingantaw and Kadae of Palaw Township.
As such, thousands of residents from those areas are displaced and are in need of assistance, according to locals.
Junta forces torched and destroyed 57 houses from the villages of Ngarmile, Mielaungaw and Shatpon in Palaw Township during September.
